The next time you go shopping for contract bar tables, keep in mind the importance of choosing the right tabletop material for your establishment. You should take many things into consideration before making your selection: price, availability, ease of maintenance, and style that matches the ambiance you’re trying to create.

If you have a nice, sit-down restaurant, wood tabletops would be a good choice. Lacquered wood is resistant to spilled sodas and other acidic beverages. Wooden tabletops also require minimal upkeep. They’re a familiar sight in family restaurants, and help to create a warm, traditional atmosphere. Some woods age well, and their appearance can even improve with time. Beware of scratches, though; they’re difficult to repair.

Steel TabletopsAluminum or metal tabletops might be a better choice if you want something durable that matches your modern bar chairs and other contemporary decor. Stainless steel is very resilient, and even your toughest customers will have a hard time marking it up. It is susceptible to spilled liquids, however. These will leave a mark if left for too long. Also, you’ll want to avoid any abrasive cleaners that may cause tiny etches on the metallic surface.

Outdoor patio or poolside seating can be made to look attractive with marble or mosaic tile tabletops. Marble is better suited to cool, clean aesthetics, while mosaic tile looks more whimsical and artistic. Since both of these surfaces are porous, they require a little extra care. You’ll want to get a silicon treatment kit to seal the tabletop and prevent it from getting stained by acidic and brightly-colored drinks.

Finally, for businesses that host lots of children, durability and ease of cleaning are important factors to consider. Lots of child care centers use laminate tabletops, like Formica. Laminate tabletops are very low-maintenance, and can handle all but the most abrasive of cleaners. Available in bright colors that kids love, employees will love the easy upkeep.
